Paul Lees

Collaborative Pianist

Paul Lees is a versatile pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, and educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas where he was a member of the seven-time Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band.

 

While a graduate student at UNT, Paul was a teaching fellow whose responsibilities included directing the Zebras ensemble and teaching the Jazz Keyboard Fundamentals course. He has recorded five studio albums with various bands, the most recent being the One O’Clock Lab Band’s "Lab 2018: The Rhythm of the Road." 

 

Paul has performed with Doc Severinsen, Christian McBride, Jimmy Heath, Marshall Gilkes, and Sean Jones; he has recorded with Tom Harrell, Jon Faddis, James Morrison, Bob McChesney, Allen Vizzutti, and Louis Dowdeswell. He also regularly plays concerts in Ukraine with bassist David Friesen.

 

Besides performing, Paul is in demand as an educator. In November 2019 he had the opportunity to travel to Lagos, Nigeria to teach jazz master classes at the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria. Currently Paul is the pianist for Denton Bible Church and keyboardist for InFocus Band, Strait Shot, and the Rebel Alliance Jazz Ensemble. He is also the accompanist for the Voices of Flower Mound Community Choir and the Robson Ranch Choir.
