With The Voices of Flower Mound
The Voices of Flower Mound will present a great selection of old rock and roll favorites for its fall concert on Saturday, October 14th. Selections by the Beatles and songs which have been made popular by artists like Ike and Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, Kansas, The Pretenders, Queen, and Chicago will be performed along with other familiar selections, such as “Old Time Rock and Roll”, “Aquarius”, “Under the Boardwalk” and “Nights in White Satin”.
The Voices of Flower Mound, a community chorus, directed by Dr. Arturo Ortega and accompanied by Elise Wattman, just celebrated its eleventh anniversary. In addition to its regular spring and fall concerts, the VFM joins forces annually with the Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra to perform a Patriotic and a Christmas concert. The chorus has also participated in performances of Mozart’s “Requiem Mass” and Handel’s “Messiah” with the Flower Mound Symphony.
The October 14th concert will take place at 7:00PM at the Flower Mound Community Church which is located on the south side of the intersection of Cross Timbers Rd. (FM1171) and Glenwick Blvd. The address is 3415 Cross Timbers Rd. in Flower Mound 75028.

FREE CONCERT TO BENEFIT CCA

Musicians from several area churches and community choruses will present the 11th annual “Rejoice” concert which benefits the Christian Community
Action organization. The performance of spiritual selections will be presented by a combined chorus and orchestra members from the participating organizations. Among the selections will be an exciting Roger Emerson arrangement of “Africa”, and “This Is the Day” by Dr. Patrick Bradley.
The annual “Rejoice” concert, first organized in 2006, has raised over $60,00 for CCA. “Rejoice” has continued its growth and popularity every year, both by the audience and the musicians. The concert has given residents of our communities an opportunity to enjoy some inspirational music and contribute to a very important organization which provides many services to hundreds of less fortunate members of our communities.
This year’s Concert will be presented at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, 6101 Morriss Road, in Flower Mound on Sunday evening, September 24, 2017, at 7:00 PM. The performance is free and open to the public, but donations, all of which go to CCA, will be greatly appreciated.
On Saturday evening, May 13th, at 7:00 PM, the Voices of Flower Mound will present “Isn’t it Romantic”, a concert of selections you and mom will love – pop music by songwriters whose songs have remained popular over the years. Several Gershwin selections, including ”Summertime”, from the musical Porgy and Bess, along with selections from other musicals –“Over the Rainbow” from Wizard of Oz, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Disney’s Toy Story and “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Other tunes date as far back as the 1930s by artists such as Hoagy Carmichael, Henry Mancini, and Elvis Presley.

In addition to their own concerts, VFM performs with the Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra and the Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church chancel choir in both annual patriotic concerts and Christmas concerts. The chorus has also participated in performances of Mozart’s Requiem Mass and Handel’s Messiah. In another annual event, the VFM joins forces with musicians from several area Churches and community choruses in “Rejoice”, a musical fundraiser for CCA.

The Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra, the Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, and the Voices of Flower Mound will again join together to present their annual Christmas concert. In addition to a selection of familiar orchestral and choral Christmas favorites, and an opportunity for audience participation, the choir and orchestra will perform John Leavitt’s “What Sweeter Music” cantata.
Esteban Rojas, Conductor of the Flower Mound Symphony, will share the baton with Trietsch Minister of Music, Rev. Karen Chraska, and Dr. Arturo Ortega, Director of the Voices of Flower Mound.
There will be two performances, at 7:00 PM, Saturday, December 10th and Sunday, December 11th, in the Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church Sanctuary. 6101 Morriss Rd, Flower Mound. Advance tickets, priced at $10, will be available by visiting the Trietsch website – TMUMC.org. Tickets at the door will be $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. There is no charge for children 6 and under. The concert is open to the public.
